his Licenciate’s degree at the Universidad de
Costa Rica (UCR), where he graduated with
honors.

Mario has worked in private practice as well as in
the private educational sector as a secondary
school psychologist.  He was an adjunct faculty
member in the School of Psychology of the
University of Costa Rica, and his masters degree
(awarded by the Organization of America States)
specializes in substance abuse treatment.

having served as clinical coordinator at Villa San Jose, a drug
and alcohol treatment center. Prior to that, he was the Executive
Director of the Vida y Sociedad Foundation , a non-profit
foundation dedicated to providing substance abuse prevention
programs to elementary and secondary schools throughout
Costa Rica. He is currently a consultant for FVS, and has
published several articles and research reports on mental
Milieu Co-Coordinator and lead therapist at New Summit
