Social Studies

The discipline of Social Studies at New Summit Academy develops minds which are able to synthesize knowledge of people, cultures and events in order to analyze our present and navigate a complex future.

Courses include World History, United States History and Government, Humanities, Global Citizenship Development, Psychology of Personal Development, and Cross-Cultural Studies.

English

Our English courses cultivate students’ abilities to appreciate the fabric of the human experience and beauty of the language while learning to think critically by analyzing literature and developing respect for the worlds and people behind it, to communicate effectively through writing and speech, and to create unique pieces of fiction and nonfiction, poetry and prose.

Freshman through senior English classes are offered, each focusing on Literature and Composition.

Math

Mathematics classes are taught to develop the disciplined mind which is able to recognize problems and create logical approaches to solve them. These problems are practical applications which students encounter in their everyday lives, allowing them to synthesize new mathematical skills with the world around them.

NSA mathematics classes include Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2, and Precalculus.

Sciences

The Sciences at New Summit Academy foster a systematic approach to investigating and applying scientific knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Biotechnology.

Each course pairs knowledge acquisition with the study of the repercussions of scientific advances to promote ethical decision making in the face of a rapidly-changing world.

Arts

Creative expression – the act of giving imaginative form to original ideas and emotions – is not only an integral facet of our students’ lives at NSA, but provides multiple intelligence-based methods of enhancing more traditional academic pursuits.

Arts classes offered can include Visual Arts, Photography, Documentary Filmmaking, Creative Writing, and Digital and Live Music in our state-of-the-art recording studio.

Learning Spanish in Costa Rica

Our location in Costa Rica and travel opportunities throughout Latin America provide our students an immersion experience like no other, building respect for other cultures and a true global perspective.

Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced Immersion Spanish classes complement these experiences along with our homestay program and daily interactions with native speakers, allowing students to build Spanish fluency.
