Connecting
Being away from home can make connecting seem difficult, but we often need to remove ourselves from our environment in order to gain insight and stimulate growth and change. Students and families work within a parallel process of individual and relational growth, which enhances and enriches the relationship at regular points of reconnection. NSA supports family connections through weekly audio or video calls with students and with therapists, in-country family workshops, and home visits during school breaks.

Healing
Being away from home gives everyone space to grow and gain perspective which in turn promotes healing. Years of history, patterns, and dynamics are hard to change, but through consistent individual and relational guidance, healing is possible. New ways of connecting and knowing one another are experienced, and new ways of relating and problem-solving are learned.

Preparing
Success at NSA is only one step in the process. The insights, skills, and confidence gained at NSA needs to transfer to new environments in order to continue the momentum of growth. Students and families work with our transition planning processto create, process, and finalize an solid Transition Plan that takes into account each student's and family's individual strengths, challenges, risks, and needs. By committing to and following this transition plan, students and families are set up higher changes for success.
