CampusWe are situated on a beautiful six-acre property that contains many plants, flowers, fruits, and trees native to Costa Rica. The natural beauty of our campus is a healthy backdrop for our daily activities and learning. Our location enjoys temperate weather year-round, with temperatures from 65F at night to 85F during the day.
Campus hosts student dorms, a student club house, an academic building, a music and film studio, gardens and a greenhouse, as well as an administrative building with kitchen, dining hall, lounge, and gym. The architecture of our buildings has an open, flowing feel that reflects our focus on connecting with the natural world. |
ClubsWe have many different student interests on campus, and that is reflected in our long list of student clubs, including, but not limited to:

ActivitiesHere at New Summit, we're always doing something to keep ourselves busy!
On Fridays, Student Council plans 1-3 options for students - anything from a trip to the movie theater to roller disco to a "tournament of champions" (with billiards, ping pong, chess, cards, and board games galore) on campus. On Saturdays, we might relax on campus and play some sports in town... or we might plan an all day trip to the beach, a service project, or a nature-rich adventure to a nearby waterfall or beach. On Sundays, newer students attend a cultural immersion outing, and students in their last 6 months at NSA immerse themselves the local culture through our Homestay program. |
Student LeadershipStudent Council: At New Summit Academy, we provide the opportunity for formal leadership positions in the community. Unlike a "typical" Student Council, we give students many responsibilities, including trip-planning and budgeting. Students view our Handbook as a living document and use our Proposal System to formally collaborate with other students and staff to propose changes to handbook rules. In this way, we empower students to use their voices and skills appropriately to advocate for change. |
